Презентация "Экологические и водные проблемы в Центральной Азии"

21 января 2014 года в 18:00 в посольстве США в Ташкенте будет проведена презентация, посвященная экологическим и водным проблемам в Центральной Азии. Докладчик — Кэтрин Хаймс (Katherine Himes), научный консультант и специалист по охране окражающей среды Агентства США по международному развитию ЦА (USAID CAR). Язык встречи — английский.

Dr. Katherine Himes’ career reflects her passion for science, development, science communication, and education. As a Science Advisor at the U.S. Agency for International Development, she leads initiatives on water, climate change, and broad science at the Central Asian Republics (CAR) Mission. Previously, she was the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science & Technology Policy Fellow and Science Adviser in the Office of Science and Technology at USAID Washington, and worked at the intersection of science, development, and diplomacy. Experiences in this nexus affirm greatly her belief in the power of international science collaboration. Previously, Kate was the Special Assistant to the Provost at the University of Minnesota, where she advised on strategic science, research, and graduate education policies and initiatives. She earned her Ph.D. and B.S. in Neuroscience from the University of Minnesota and MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She believes strongly in the importance of science communication and education, particularly women’s access to science, technology, math, and engineering fields, and seeks opportunities to inform the public about science.
